Sooo beautiful, standing there doing that signature new mamma sway with her new bebe cozy in the carrier in my local coffee shop.
I get you and I think you look beautiful.
I watch you stand as you eat your breakfast (another signature mom move), its cold by now and all those delicious calories will be consumed during your day (and night) (swaying) dance party. What is left over for you?
It can be challenging to take care of ourselves as new mammas. This is just the beginning of learning how to and it’s a lesson to learn at a time that can be the most challenging. I remember the frustration when people would say “you need to take care of yourself” as though I was self-inflicting this new mom job challenge onto myself. I know what I need to do, thank you, however I am responsible for someone’s life and I don’t have the luxury of choosing me right now.
Up until my daughter was at a sustainable weight I couldn’t choose to teach her how to sleep through the night as I was her food supply that would keep her on that precious growth curve. When I chose to teach her the all-important lesson in sleep I discovered that it was the ultimate lesson in taking care - I was taking care of her and me. We both began to thrive, we both got our much-needed sleep, we both became the human’s we were capable of being … one precious full night of sleep at a time.
To you, mamma, who will find your way … I’ve got you.
